Patient Education: Nutritional Counseling/Integrative Medicine
Integrative medicine is a healthcare approach that combines conventional medical practices with complementary and alternative therapies. We believe that optimal health and healing are achieved by addressing the whole person – mind, body, and spirit – and by working collaboratively with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.
Laura M Kemps DC, DCBCN is a board certified clinical nutritionist since 2013 after completing a rigorous 2-year program. She is also required to have yearly continuing education in nutrition topics to maintain that board certification.

What is Integrative Medicine?
Integrative medicine is a patient-centered approach that emphasizes the interconnectedness of all aspects of your health. It goes beyond simply treating symptoms and focuses on identifying the root causes of illness. We use evidence-based practices from both conventional and complementary medicine to support your body's natural healing abilities.

Conditions treated with Nutritional Counseling/Integrative Medicine include:

Acid reflux ,Gas/bloating , Constipation or Diarrhea, Food Intolerances, Headaches, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, High Cholesterol, Nutritional Counseling for Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, Weight Loss, Insomnia, PCOS, Peri/Post-Menopausal Hormone Changes, Excessive Fatigue

Key Principles of Nutritional Counseling and Integrative Medicine:
• Patient-centered care: Your individual needs, preferences, and values are at the heart of all decisions.
• Focus on wellness: We emphasize prevention and promoting overall well-being, not just treating disease.
• Therapeutic relationship: We value a strong and collaborative partnership between you and your healthcare provider.
• Evidence-informed practices: We utilize therapies that have been shown to be safe and effective through scientific research.
• Integration of therapies: We combine conventional medical treatments prescribed by your physician with complementary and alternative therapies when appropriate.
• Emphasis on self-care: We empower you to take an active role in your health through lifestyle changes and self-care practices.

What Types of Therapies Might be Included?
Integrative medicine may incorporate a variety of therapies, including:
Conventional Medical Treatments:These include standard medical practices such as medications, surgery, and diagnostic tests through your primary physician
• Lifestyle Modifications: Nutrition, exercise, stress management, sleep hygiene, and other lifestyle changes are often a cornerstone of integrative care.
• Food Intolerance Testing: A blood test reveals what foods may be contributing to your illness.
• Hormone Testing: Salivary testing to look at adrenal function and/or hormone balance whether you are male or female
• Stool Testing: A Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis can reveal a lot about your gut health. This simple test checks to see if you are producing enough digestive enzymes, whether you may have irritable bowel disease or irritable bowel syndrome, the balance of good to bad bacteria in your gut, the strength of your gut lining, systemic yeast infection, ova and parasites, and more.

What are the Benefits of Integrative Medicine?
• Improved health outcomes: Integrative medicine can be effective in managing chronic pain, chronic and acute digestive issues, acid reflux, insomnia, stress, anxiety, depression, and other health conditions.
• Reduced reliance on medications: By addressing the root causes of illness, it may be possible to reduce the need for medications.
• Enhanced quality of life: Integrative care can improve your overall well-being, energy levels, and sense of purpose.
